Is Permanent Makeup really permanent?
Permanent makeup should be considered a permanent procedure. That being said, you will have some fading after your initial application from he skins natural exfoliation process. Additionally, you my experience gradual fading as time passes. It is easy to add color, but difficult to take it away. As such, I suggest starting off conservatively until your desired look is achieved. A color refresher every few years is suggested.
How long will my Permanent Makeup last?
Permanent makeup is long lasting, however there are many factors that can effect how long your makeup lasts. Sun exposure, medications and illnesses, smoking, skin treatments and skin care products containing AHA's, BHA's and retinoids and the skins natural exfoliation process can lead to fading. As such, many people like to come in for a color refresher every couple of years.
A few Good Reasons to consider Permanent Makeup:
- You want a little more time in the morning and love the convenience of always waking up with your makeup already on!
- You've lost lash or brow hair as a result of over tweezing, aging, alopecia, chemotherapy or trichotillomania (pulling of hair including brows and lashes)
- You have vision problems or suffer from arthritis and find it difficult to apply makeup
- You suffer from allergies to traditional makeup or you have seasonal or other allergies that cause watery eyes
- You have a difficult time applying traditional makeup correctly
- You are involved in outdoor activities or sports and struggle with traditional makeup smudging, smearing and running
Can I get my Permanent Makeup Cheaper?
Remember the saying, "You get what you pay for". It will save you money, time and a huge hassle by doing it right the first time. If you've already had permanent makeup applied by another technician, and wish to have reshaping or color changes, please call for a consultation.
Is the procedure painful?
Topical anesthetics have been developed and are applied to the area prior to and during the procedure. I do my best to ensure that you are comfortable throughout the entire procedure. You may experience some discomfort. As the procedure nears completion and the topical anesthetics wear, though mosts people say that it is minimal, especially for eyebrows and eyeliner. For lips, since they are very vascular, it's not uncommon to experience slightly more discomfort.
*Ice packs may be applied 10 minutes on 10 minutes off during the first few hours after your procedure to reduce swelling.
What if I have plastic or laser surgery?
Cosmetic surgery is desirable for many reasons as we age. It's best to complete your surgery before having your makeup applied. Laser surgery or resurfacing may result in color loss or darkening of your makeup depending on the laser and the colors in your skin. Advise your laser surgeon that you have permanent cosmetics so that he or she can perform a "spot test" before they proceed. If either cosmetic surgery or laser causes color loss, then it is a simple matter to have the color replaced. Your technician can explain more about complications of cosmetic tattoos.
What if I need an MRI?
By all means get the needed MRI. Temporary tingling, redness and swelling have been reported for those with eyeliner tattoos. Advise your physician that you have a cosmetic tattoo. He or she may wish to place a wet cotton round over your eyes during the MRI.
